Innovation starts with a growth mindset

Innovators are people who solve problems that arise as the world changes. When it comes to innovation, individuals who possess a growth mindset have an edge. Below are 5 areas to consider in creating a growth mindset.

  1. Cultivate a sense of purpose.

Purpose is a reason for being and allows individuals to focus on long-term impact verses short term gain. Marc Beniof, Salesforce Co-CEO shares in his book, Trailblazer, “ In your quest to succeed and make money, don’t forget to do something for others.” To have lasting impact, it has to be bigger than just making money.

  2. View challenges as opportunities

Innovators not only view challenges as opportunities, they also appreciate the process and use them as an opportunity to learn. Reflect on your experience. What worked well? What can be done better? Use this information to make the next version better.

  3. Build your community

It’s important to have a community that values the same thing as you and encourages your to never give up. I’m grateful for the Ajilla community and our Champions for Change who are purposeful individuals making impact in their communities.

  4. Have Grit

Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term and meaningful goals. It is the ability to persist in something you feel passionate about and persevere when you face obstacles.

  5. Do Things with Excellence

The goal is not to strive for perfection, but rather to have a mindset of doing things with excellence. This allows for disappointment, and prioritizes progress over perfection.
