Money, Money, Money!

Having conversations with our emerging leaders on 1) what wealth is and 2) how to create wealth is key to long term success. It’s more than just finding a full time career that pays a lot of money, it’s also about making your money work for you and creating long term generational wealth. In this session we talked about:

  • What is money?

  • What is wealth?

  • What is investing

  • What are multiple streams of income?

  • If I start investing now, what could that look like in 5, 10, 15 , 20+ years from now.

We had over 60 participants join the fun-filled educational discussion led by Loretta Faluade from The Investing Corner and special Tatiana Hart, who has a mission to empower minorities, millennials and Gen-Z to create generational wealth.

Three things that we want everyone to remember from the session:

  1. When you invest, you are making money grow for you

  2. Start investing as early as you can

  3. Buy appreciating assets that increase in value over time

Here are some of the things that the participants learned by attending this event:

  • I learned “how good investing your money can be for your future”

  • I learned “I learned about the value of money”

  • I learned “to buy items that appreciate”

  • I learned “what passive income is”

  • I learned “how to earn money and invest it and the value of it”

Ajilla + Roblox Event Recap: The importance of planting seeds

Inequity and inequality exist for women and people of color, not only because of systemic issues, but also because of the confidence gap, the opportunity gap, the gender gap, and the pay gap that women encounter on a daily basis. At The Ajilla Foundation, our purpose is to close the gaps that stand as barriers to the progress of girls and women, through our strategic initiatives that begin in elementary school and continue through early career.

Through the Leadership, Innovation and Technology (LIT) Programs, we introduce our next generation of leaders to examples of women that are excelling in their respective fields, planting the seed and highlighting the fact, that if “she can do it, I can do it too.”

On Friday, July 10th, the Ajilla Foundation hosted its 2nd LIT event for girls ages 8-13. The event was a partnership with Roblox and Mastermind Designs and introduced girls to new ideas and concepts, coding skills, and the importance of teamwork that goes into building online games and experiences.

Thank you to Kelly from Roblox and Juni from Mastermind Designs for being an inspiration to our next generation of leaders. Kelly shared the many careers that exist at Roblox and highlighted that Roblox is #MoreThanJustAGame. She also provided practical tools for the participants to design and develop a community within the online game. Juni designed and created a fun and educational virtual escape room that highlighted the various gifts and talents that we each have within us.

Here is a visual recap from the event:
